List of speakers announced for annual National Prayer Day event

prayer day.JPG

The annual National Prayer Day celebration takes place at noon on Thursday, May 4, in the Cameron Priebe Plaza at City Hall.

The event is free and the public is welcome.

Priebe Plaza is located between City Hall and the Taylor Police Department. Best parking available is in the north (Goddard Road) parking lot.

Religious leaders gather to celebrate as one. Last year, about 100 people gathered to listen to several prayers and speeches. The history of the National day of Prayer dates back to 1775 when the Continental Congress passed it. Eventually, a bill declaring a National Prayer Day was passed by Congress in 1952 and fixed the celebration on the first Thursday in May in 1988.
