Santa's Magic Forest is a magical place that opens each winter in the Activities Building of Heritage Park, but it needs a few helpful elves to prepare for the busy holiday season.

Volunteers are being sought to help build the display. If you are willing, the work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 13. And it will likely continue to take place at similar times each Saturday until the work is finished.

Santa's Magic Forest -- Downriver's finest holiday display -- is open weekends from Thanksgiving Weekend through Christmas in the Heritage Park Activity Building, 12111 Pardee Road, Taylor. The Activities Building is located behind the Taylor Community Library, right next to the Lamarand Splash Field. The magical winter wonderland includes hundreds of animated characters, dozens of Christmas scenes and beautiful holiday light displays. Visitors have an opportunity to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

This year, the display will officially kickoff the season during the Taylor Winterfest on Saturday, November 24. The Winterfest will include a day full of activities, including a run, various events in the Sheridan Center, parade, annual tree lighting and even a fireworks display.

All proceeds from the Magic Forest benefit the Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry, a nonprofit organization that is operating the holiday display as a fund-raiser. Fish & Loaves, located at 25670 Northline Road, provides food and nourishment to shoes in need in Taylor and surrounding communities.

For more information on Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry, call (734) 778-1611.
