The Good to Great Neighborhood Program will head for Area No. 15 on Monday, June 1. Area No. 15 includes the neighborhood between Beech Daly, Van Born, Telegraph and the I-94 freeway. Residents in this neighborhood should be receiving letters in the mail, detailing the program.

Area No. 14 (Beech Daly, Ecorse and the I-94 freeway) is essentially finished, although some concrete and sealing work needs completing.

Good to Great focuses on making enhancements such as beautification, parks, signage, trees, utilities, roads, catch basins, neighborhood businesses, LED lighting, blight removal, sewer maintenance and even public safety. Mayor Rick Sollars started the program in spring 2018.

As part of this program, the Taylor Police will be holding a meet-and-greet with residents. This gathering will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the Taylor Meadows Golf Course parking lot. This is an opportunity for the police officers to interact with the residents to get a better understanding of the safety concerns in your area.  Please stop by and chat with them. This gathering, the first several in 2020, will focus on Areas No. 14 and 15, but any resident is welcome to attend.

G2G will offer free mulch for property enhancement. The City of Taylor will have free mulch located at the dead end of the following streets: Janet, Cherokee, Bailey and Cooper. We will keep mulch there as long as it is being used, during the program. In addition, the program offers a tree enhancement program. Through the program, residents can order trees for just $200 each. Kwanzan Cherry, Pink Flowering Dogwoods and Purple Flowing Red Buds are offered. If you purchase a tree through the program, City workers will install it for free, including mulch at its base and provide you with a slow-release watering bag.

During this effort we welcome your comments and concerns. All feedback can be directed to Good to Great Program Coordinator Sam DiCicco at sdicicco@ci.taylor.mi.us.  Please title your email “Good to Great” Program, Area #15.
